K-Five was honored, proud, and humbled to be part of a surprise truck parade to celebrate a brave young boy, Dylan Schroeder, as he finished his last cancer treatment!
From the CBS News article with a video of the parade linked at bottom: “Dylan would prefer a construction site over Disney World,” said his father, Fred Schroeder. “He deserves it. He deserves every minute of it.” [...]
Dylan has spent three of his six years on this earth with leukemia. “He takes his last chemo pill tonight,” said Dylan’s mother, Joanna Schroeder. “That’s going to be really emotional.”
But for a moment in time, all that worry and anxiety went away when that parade of trucks came through.
“It just fills your heart,” Joanna Schroeder said. “It makes every single – every tear, every difficult day just really worth it – just to be able to give him this at the end.”
Many thanks to Mark Lindbloom and Steve Radtke for coordinating and a special shout out to Tom Urbanczyk for taking his time on Sunday- complete with a lowboy and paver and a few K-Five gifts- to provide Dylan a surprise of immeasurable joy!
Congratulations and best wishes to Dylan and his family!
With the return of fall weather this week, here are some safety tips to take with you on the road:
Check your tire pressure: Tires lose 1 to 2 pounds of pressure for every 10-degree temperature drop.
Stay alert in the rain: Maintain a safe distance from the car in front of you, as the wet roads may be more slippery than usual and you may be at higher risk of hydroplaning.
Watch the leaves: Wet leaves can be as slippery as ice! Drive slowly through them and avoid hard braking. Leaves may obscure lane lines and other road markers, so pay attention to the edge of the road.
Adjust your eyes: We lose 1 to 2 minutes of daylight daily after the autumnal equinox. Give your eyes time to adjust to the dark!
At K-Five Construction, at our plants where we serve you and on the roads where our teams work, we always believe in SAFETY FIRST!
